The Kumarcilar Han ("Gamblers' Inn")is in Asmaalti Square, in short walking distance from Büyük Han. Halfway in disrepair, it patiently awaits its restoration and revival.
The 17th Century building displays a typical Inn layout: two storeys enclosing a rectangular yard, the ground floor providing storage and stables, the upper floor accomodation. Accordingly, here, only the upper rooms feature marble floors, some of them even fireplaces. Prior to being known as the "Gamblers' Inn", the Han was called the "Fiddlers' Inn", a circumstance very likely indicating the Inn's consistent development into a certain direction.
There is something curious about the Inn's gates: while todays main gate constitutes a repair of rather recent orign, inside there is a another gate which in turn is actually even older than the Inn itself. Part of which former building on the site this gate originally was remains unknown.
