The Kertikli Hamam is in the northeast of Famagusta's old city, close to Ayia Photou church. The large baths are of Ottoman orign, erected upon prior Lusignan strucutures.
The fact that it is in ruins - except for its illumination domes - gives insight into the engineering of such facilities. The broken walls, for instance, disclose the formerly invisible clay pipes leading steam around the structure in order to maintain steady temperature.
